Challenge
Oral health can have a profound impact on your overall mental and physical health, but getting to the dentist can be difficult. Young families with working parents and kids in school often struggle to find the time. Older folks often have transportation or mobility concerns.
Those battling homelessness, mental illness, or substance abuse are often not as comfortable in traditional healthcare settings. Fortunately, accessing quality dental services just got a little easier for the residents of Kitsap, Mason, and rural Pierce Counties in Washington State!

Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) partnered with ADI Mobile Health to select the Ford J38 platform from Winnebago Speciality Vehicles to develop a mobile clinic that allows its team to deliver quality dental care in nontraditional settings.
The dental clinic, dubbed the Molar Roller Team, joins a fleet of PCHS mobile clinics that provide a wide range of services, including medical, behavioral health and care coordination services.
Approach
With three top-of-the-line dental chairs, panoramic X-ray, an electronic record system and an integrated wheelchair lift for patients with limited mobility, the PCHS Mobile Dental Clinic allows the team to address most dental issues onsite. When more extensive work is necessary, the mobile team can help connect patients to local resources.
Impact
Since being deployed in 2021, the PCHS Mobile Dental Clinic has made it easier to engage community members who have limited access to quality dental care.
It has become a trusted health resource that is efficient, comfortable, and convenient for staff and patients alike.
*Between April 2021 and September 2022, PCHS Mobile Dental operated 62 clinic days, helping 59 patients with 235 visits.
